Please help GECKO

Building circular eco-industrial parks requires a very wide set of competencies. In Ruaraka, we are working with all kinds of manufacturing industries from food, textile, plastic, paper, construction, pharma, chemicals, personal care and more. We address both material, water and energy streams. Considering the major knowledge gaps on circular solutions we can use all the help we can get. Please help us build the best circular eco-industrial parks in Kenya possible.

We are inviting anybody with innovative circular ideas to bring these to the GECKO team. While we particularly are looking for Danish and Kenyan inputs, because the project is based in these two countries, input from other actors may be considered.

  1. Are you a Kenyan or Danish company with circular insights, R&D or ideas, possible wanting to enter the Kenyan market?
  2. Are you a Kenyan or Danish upstart with innovative circular ideas?
  3. Are you a Kenyan or Danish student or student group who would like to undertake a circular project using the Gecko data we have collected from the Ruaraka companies?  We particularly look for student groups with any background who can work with developing upcycling materials and products from residues or new circular business models.
  4. Are you undertaking a related research project in another country and would like to collaborate?
  5. Are you working on developing eco-industrial parks somewhere and would like to exchange experiences or collaborate?
  6. Are you a designer, architect or artist who have creative ideas for making valuable products out of residues or for designing eco-industrial parks?
  7. Are you a local authority or stakeholder in Kenya and interested in developing an eco-industrial park in your region? (for the Gecko follow-up  application next year).
  8. Are you a journalist, photographer or filmmaker (student) who would like to tell great circular stories?
  9. Or are you somebody else with great circular insights and ideas who would like to help building circular eco-industrial parks in Kenya?

We particularly look for inputs and possible participation in our two upcoming main events, the Gecko Circular Innovation Workshops in November 2019 and March 2020. Please see Events.
